Sea Grass are Important for Sea Turtle

Perhaps we are wondering when we see the seashore to see sea grass with small fish, crustacea or other vertebrate between of them,  are they important for sea turtle,or we don't know about sea grass,  before start it let's know about sea grass.

What are Seagrass ? ...

Sea grass refers of 60 species of marine flower marine plants (Angiosperms) that grow submerges shallows water coastal water, typically, bay, and lagoon, unlike true grass, Seagrasses are adapted to aquatic life with like underwater pollination and rhizhomes for anchoring in sandy or muddy seabeds, they are not algae ( Like seaweed ) but enveloved from land plants that returned to the sea millions of year ago. Seagrasses from dense underwater meadows that can covers vast areas, providing critical for marine live.

How We Know the Seagrass in She Seashore ...

The seagrass we can see from their characteristics, from their appearance, habitat, and growth.  Let' start from key characteristics

Appearance : they have long, narrow leave ( Blades ) that resemble grass, oftern with flower and seeds. Roods and rhizomes help stabilize and absorb nutrients.
Habitat        :  Found in temperate and tropical water worldwide, from Arctic to Tropical in depths up 50 meters. They require clear, nutrient - rich water and sunlight for photosynthesis.
Growths.    : They reproduce  via seeds, rhizomes, or fragmentation. some species, like eelfrass ( Zostera marina ), can spread to form beds.

Seagrass has 60 species with 4 classifies main Families

- Zosteraceae : including ellgrass, common in temperate regions like Atlantic and Pacific coast.

- Hydrocharitacea : Tropical species like halodule and Thalasia ( turtle grass) , found in the Caribbean and Indo - Pacific.

- Cymodoceaceae : Including genera like Cymodocea and Syringodium, Pevalent in warm water.

- Posidoniaceae : Deep-rooted species like Posidonia oceanica in the Mediterranean, know for forming larger meadows.

Are Sea Grass beds important for sea turtle ...

Seagrass bed serve as critical nutrients for juvenile sea turtle, offering protection from predator, strong currents, and storm, for instance, hatchling Green sea turtle ( Chelonia Mydas ) ften remain in the sea grass meadow for month to year after leaving nest, where the dense vegetation provide camouflage and reduce predation risk. There bed can harbor up 90% of juvenile turtle in some population studies from Florida keys and Caribbean region.

what is else sea grass provide for sea turtle ....

Food source

many sea turtle species, particularly green sea turtle, rely on sea grass as primary diet. sea grass bed are nutrient rich ecosystem that support abundant algae and invertivrates, forming the bas of the food chain. Research from the Great Barrier reef indicate that green turtle can consume up 2 kg sea grass per day, aiding their growth and survival, Without these beds, turtle face malnutrition, contibuting which has correlate with reduce turtle number.

What are Seagrass Role and Impact for Natures...

Sea Grass beds enhance Biodiversity, stabilizing sediment and improving water quality, which indirectly benefit turtle by maintaining healthy coastal ecosystem. They also act as carbon sink, mitigation climate change impact that threaten turtle nesting beaches overall sea grass bed are essential for sea turtle life cycles, from hatchling to adulthood and their degradation pose a major threat to species loggerhead and hawkbills.
